About the role

The Manager, Payout Readiness supports CDIC’s operational readiness to implement its suite of resolution tools. The incumbent manages projects and activities that advance the development, testing, and application of payout resolution tools across member institutions of varying sizes and complexities.

 

Working under the direction of the Director, the Manager provides subject matter expertise, manages cross-functional projects, and contributes to playbook development, training, and readiness testing to ensure CDIC can execute resolution strategies efficiently and effectively.

 

This role can be performed from our Ottawa or Toronto offices, following a hybrid model approach. This is a full-time permanent opportunity. 

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES required for this role

Resolution Preparedness & Execution

  • Lead the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of operational playbooks, frameworks, and readiness plans for payout resolution tools.
  • Oversee readiness testing, simulations, and table-top exercises to assess CDIC’s capability to apply its suite of tools effectively.
  • Coordinate lessons-learned reviews and ensure incorporation of outcomes into playbooks, controls, and procedures.
  • Manage the tracking of readiness gaps, progress, and mitigation measures across institutions.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of methodologies and performance indicators used to measure resolution preparedness.


Operational Analysis & Advisory Support

  • Conduct detailed analysis of member institutions’ operational structures, data, and systems relevant to resolution execution.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and impediments that could affect execution of resolution tools and propose mitigations.
  • Support the Director in providing expert advice on readiness trends, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Draft reports, briefings, and presentations for senior management and governance committees.


Testing & Training

  • Plan and coordinate execution testing and simulation activities, ensuring scope, participation, and outputs align with objectives.
  • Oversee development and delivery of internal training sessions and execution drills for CDIC staff.
  • Track completion of exercises and readiness milestones, reporting results and improvement recommendations.


Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with member institutions, regulators, and other resolution authorities.
  • Represent CDIC in working groups or technical discussions related to operational readiness and tool development.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities to ensure alignment across all preparedness initiatives.
     

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise Analysts, establishing clear expectations and monitoring progress on deliverables.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities to enhance team expertise.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the team.

 

About you

  • Strong knowledge of financial institutions, resolution tools, and operational frameworks.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Ability to lead small teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Liquidation Process in Canada. 

 

SKILLS you bring 

  • University degree in finance, economics, law, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in financial services, regulation, or resolution planning.
  • Experience in project management and policy or operational analysis.
  • Professional designation (CFA, CPA, FRM, PMP) is an asset.

 

Must have

Language Requirements: English Essential 

Security Clearance: Eligibility to obtain a Secret-level security clearance
